It's Blueberry Time! Join us for the 28th Annual Blueberry Arts Festival in Ely's Whiteside Park. Fun for everyone!
July 23rdHistory Nights, 7:00 PM Mike Jankovec and Mary Cich will present a program on film making and development. Lecture will take place in Classroom 104 at Vermilion Community
College. All History Night Programs are open to the public and free of
charge!
Nature of the North Woods - Revisiting the Little Sioux Fire, 1:00 PM Visit Meander Lake today and examine the forest
that has developed in the past 30 plus years since the Little Sioux
Fire on the Echo Trail. You might even find some blueberries. Walking
distance: 1 mile.
Depart at 1:00 and return between 4:00 and 5:00. Fee: $12.00 per person.
For information or registration call 218-365-3385. Bring all of the
things that will make an outdoor experience enjoyable: camera, water
bottle, sturdy footwear/footwear to get wet, bug repellent, sunscreen ,
raincoat, etc. Transportation is provided and limited to 11 people.

parking lot by the college flagpoles.
July 24th Northland Orchid Hikes, 1:00 - 4:00 PM Enter
the fascinating world of orchids in the
Ely area to earn about different species and their environment. Don't
forget your camera! Each week will be a different destination such as
Bairds Lake, Dry Lake trail, and Mud Creek.Fee: $6.00 per person.

biggest summertime event! With over 300 booths full of arts, crafts
and ethnic foods, you'll be sure to find something you love! Stage
shows will take place throughout the day, plus fun for kids and all
kinds of entertainment! Stage show for Friday, July 25th will be
Rutka's Rangers, taking the stage at 1:00 & 3:00 PM. Ely's
Whiteside Park.
Summer Reading Event - Chef Roberto's Magical Cooking Show, 2:00 PM Ely Public Library. All ages. A yummy mix of magic and comedy for the entire family.
Hoedown Trio from Helsinki, Finland, 7:00 PM Eli Bissonett and Lynnanne Vesper, who’ve spent
a year in Kaustinen, Finland return for Ely’s Blueberry Festival to
present a concert with the fine Helsinki musicians, Hoedown Trio, on
the Friday night of the Blueberry Festival, July 25, at 7 p.m. in
Washington Auditorium. Eli and LynneAnne will present traditional and
ancient Finnish music which they studied during their year abroad.
A concert of cultural exchange, the Hoedown Trio will present their
version of American and Finnish folk, country, and roots music.
Tickets are $11 adult, $9 for seniors, and NLAA members, and $6 for
adults, available through Ely’s Music Outfitters, 365-2889, 1st Avenue
East and Camp Street, and at the door.
Area drummer Robin Anders, a member of the group “Boiled in Lead,”
will join the Hoedown Trio to complete the percussive sound of the
group. The Trio consists of Ninni Poijärvi, Mika Kuokkanen, and Olli
Haavisto. Ninni Poijärvi is a vocalist, fiddler, accordionist, and
songwriter. She is originally from Espoo, and now lives in Helsinki.
Mika Kuokkanen is a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter from Juva, a small
town in southern Savo, now also living in Helsinki. Olli Haavisto is a
dobro and pedal steel player from Espoo, now living in Järvenpää.

biggest summertime event! With over 300
booths full of arts, crafts and ethnic foods, you'll be sure to find
something you love! Stage shows will take place throughout the day,
plus fun for kids and all kinds of entertainment! Stage show for
Saturday, July 26th will be Conga Se Menne, taking the stage from 11:00
AM to 12:30 PM, and again from 1:30 to 3:00 PM. Ely's Whiteside Park.
Ely Winton Monsters of Mud, 12:00 PM Taking
place at the LongBranch in Winton, Minnesota on beautiful Fall Lake.
Races begin at noon. Food and beverages available, please no coolers.
